Emily Moon River Lodge is a quirky boutique hotel situated just outside Plettenberg Bay, nestled amongst Milkwood Trees on the banks of the Bitou River.
Eight of the ten luxury lodges in this exclusive property enjoy peaceful river and wetland views and all have wooden decks and large fireplaces. Spacious and private, the suites are contemporary in design and tastefully appointed. Winding through lush indigenous vegetation, the walkways connect each lodge to the central areas. Each lodge has been themed according to a character in the Emily Moon story, featuring rare artefacts and found-items collected from throughout Africa.
Breakfast is served on the elevated deck, its stunning views a balm to the soul. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the main restaurant/dining hall, with its backdrop of distant mountains, but in the off-season (March to November) lunch is only offered on a Sunday. A boutique estate wine list complements the meals. During the heat of the day, cool off in the swimming pools, or take a paddle on the river, and as night falls, socialise around a log fire, sundowner in hand.
Lunch by the pool or dine by candlelight. The restaurant only use the freshest homegrown and local produce to prepare a mouthwatering homestyle menu. Simon’s Bar is designed with vintage motorboat engines decorating the walls and with a wood-fired pizza oven. Both restaurant and bar are a huge attraction for locals too.
