Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is an unspoilt part of Africa, ecologically and geographically integrated with the adjacent Kruger National Park. It is situated within one of the oldest and largest proclaimed private reserves in Africa – the world renowned Sabi Sand Wildtuin.

Born of history, inspired by the legends of hidden bullion and fearless hunters, the exquisite eight suite Selati Camp is a tangible reminder of the grand steam train era when the first railway lines snaked through the Mpumalanga bushveld carrying gold to Mozambique.  Each of the suites, romantically named after long-gone railway stations, is intimate and comfortable. “Vintage” styling, en-suite bathrooms, and cleverly concealed air-conditioning and electricity maintain the historical theme.

Nights at Selati are illuminated by the gentle glow of authentic shunter’s lamps and lanterns. Recently refurbished, the new lounge and bar area is filled with reminders of times gone by and this intimate haven opens up to the outdoor boma, where superb meals are enjoyed under the star-studded African sky or in the intimate “Farmhouse Kitchen”.  Armchairs around the sparkling pool or on the covered wooden viewing decks are a perfect perch from which to watch game drinking at the nearby waterhole.

Safari Experience

A tribute to the pioneers of the grand steam train era of the late 1800’s, the historically themed Selati Camp is the Sabi Sabi of Yesterday. Selati’s 8 beautifully appointed suites, including the Ivory Presidential Suite, are filled with authentic antiques, vintage décor and railway memorabilia – offering intimacy and romance with a dash of nostalgic opulence. Whilst maintaining a deep respect and bond with the wilderness, Sabi Sabi continues to be voted one of world’s premier safari destinations.

Wildlife & Birdlife

Situated in the Sabi Sand Wildtuin, a recognised hotspot of biodiversity within the greater Kruger National Park, Sabi Sabi is blessed with an astonishing variety of habitat and wildlife. Guests have an excellent chance of close encounters with the Big 5 – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – as well as cheetah, wild dog and all species indigenous to the area. Here one will experience Africa’s ever-changing landscapes and rhythms; from the clear light of dawn and the pastel haze of late afternoon, to the fiery sunsets and sudden onset of night. Against this backdrop, the abundant animals and extraordinary variety of birds exist in their unfenced natural environment, as they have done for centuries. Exciting morning and evening open vehicle safaris, as well as environmental awareness walking safaris, are led by experienced rangers and trackers.
