Ozondjou Trails is a tented safari camp on the Ugab River and one of Namibia’s newest additions!  Ozondjou is the Herero word for “on the track of the desert elephants” and this is very fitting as the camp site is very close to the base camp of the Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA).

The camp consists of 7 twin tents and 1 family tent each with ensuite shower, wash basin and flush toilets.  There is a Mess tent with lounge area and dining table leading out to an outside sitting area at the fire pit with a fantastic view of the Ugab River.   Dinner is prepared over an open fire whilst you unwind with a drink sitting out under the stars.

This off the beaten track camp is only accessible by 4×4.  Located 4 km off the C35 on the road between Uis and Khorixas.

Safari Experience

The dramatic landscape is home to free-roaming wildlife such as oryx, zebra, kudu, springbok, ostrich and giraffe as well as desert elephants.  Guests can join the EHRA in their day to day patrol work to study the elephants behaviour.  Guests are also given a guided tour with a local farmer who will give an insight on farming in the area and the challenges they are facing in their daily lives with free-roaming wildlife around.  A village school visit is another insightful experience.

Wildlife & Birdlife

The camp benefits the EHRA financially with a portion of the income going to local farmers.
