Welcome to South Africa.
Upon arrival into Johannesburg, you will receive a VIP Meet & Greet and be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board and assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs.
Should your arrival aircraft be directed to the apron and not the terminal, you will be transported to the terminal by bus. As you step off the bus, your Meet and Greet will be waiting for you with the paging board. You will then be shown to your onward flight to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport, where you will be met for your approximately 2 hour road transfer to Southern Sabi Sands in the Greater Kruger National Park.
Welcome to the Greater Kruger National Park…
With over 2 million hectares of pristine wilderness, the Kruger’s biodiversity sustains numerous species of game and birds. The dry north consists of Baobab trees, scrubland and rocky outcroppings which can be seen for miles and animals tend to gather around water sources. As you come south, the park gets busier, animal numbers increase and the backdrop changes to grassland and acacia woodlands.
On the western borders, private reserves such as Sabi Sands,Timbavati and Klaserie open onto the Kruger, offering an exclusive game experience with the flexibility of night drives and off-road 4 x 4 safaris.
Your home for the next 3 nights is Umkumbe Safari Lodge, in Sabi Sand Game Reserve staying in a Superior Room including all meals, game walks and game drives, teas and coffees.
Located on the banks of the seasonal Sand River, in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Umkumbe Safari Lodge is well positioned for superb game viewing. With a variety of room configurations, chalets have river or plains views and verandahs for appreciating the pristine bush.
Between exciting big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo) game drives, perhaps cool off in the pool or relax on the deck keeping an eye out for the game which wonder freely through this unfenced area. Bush walks may be enjoyed straight after breakfast, and a gym is available for energetic guests.
Depart Umkumbe at 0900 hrs on the scenic Panorama Tour to take in God’s Window, Lisbon Falls and Blyde River Canyon.
Blyde River Canyon Reserve is situated against the Greater Drakensberg escarpment and includes natural wonders such as the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, Pinnacle Rock and God’s Window. Combining the visual splendour of the Panorama Route with exceptional game viewing in the Kruger National Park or its private game reserves creates a spectacular itinerary in Mpumalanga.
Door to door this is a 3 hour drive, however, you will have time for stops, although the aim will be to arrive by 1530 hrs at nThambo Tree Camp in time for afternoon tea and the afternoon game viewing activity.
You will spend 4 nights at nThambo Tree Camp in a Chalet on a fully inclusive basis that includes all meals, teas, coffee, local brand drinks (soft & alcoholic), scheduled game walks and drives.
Offering authenticity and affordability, nThambo Tree Camp is located in the Klaserie Reserve, bordering the Greater Kruger National Park. With an emphasis on safari rather than luxury, nThambo provides an intimate, game-centred experience, allowing guest focus to remain on the natural beauty of the area, without unnecessary distraction. 5 treehouse-style, elevated suites are constructed of wood, canvas and thatch, and each has its own verandah overlooking the plains. Solar lighting is used, rather than electricity. Quaintly rustic, the main expanses are open-plan, under thatch and feature lovely spaces in which to unwind. Wholesome meals are served in a social dining area, or in the boma around a blazing fire.
You will take a private transfer from nThambo Tree Camp to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Livingstone. Estimated time of departure is 7 am to get you to the airport by 10 am for check in. Flight times will be confirmed closer to the time, but this is currently 1135 hrs departure for arrival into Livingstone at 1310 hrs.
