Welcome to Livingstone!
As light fades from the majestic African sunset, you greet the night, sundowners in hand. Cruising along the Zambezi River, the hippos and crocs spectators to your passage, it is clear that this is where you are meant to be, a visitor paying tribute to the greater scheme of things, for a time written in to the story.
In his search for ‘’the Smoke that Thunders” David Livingstone discovered one of the most majestic sights in the world and to this day, the spectacular Victoria Falls has the power to leave man speechless with its beauty. It is beside this World Heritage Site that the quaintly colonial, Livingstone Town was born. As a popular entry point into Zambia it offers the intrepid traveller an adventure destination and ideal jumping off point to some of the most untouched game parks available.
Livingstone provides the same escapades which make Victoria Falls so appealing: heart-stopping white water rafting and bungee jumping, elephant back safaris and glorious aircraft flips over the falls. The sprawling town of Livingstone is home to vibrant markets and museums dedicated to the local culture, history and rich railway heritage.
At Livingstone Airport you will be met for a Private Road Transfer to Sindabezi Island, a private island paradise just upstream from Victoria Falls in Zambia where you will spend 4 nights on a Pay 3 Stay 4 basis in a Thatched Chalet, fully inclusive.
Sindabezi Island is positioned in the middle of the Zambezi River, from where this tranquil haven enjoys incredible vistas over the water and the Zambezi National Park. Luxurious in its simplicity, the 5 open-sided thatched chalets are raised on wooden platforms and overlook the river from private settings. Natural fibres, thatch and wood, blend with flowing, romantic touches and influences from the African continent. With no electricity, rooms are lit by hurricane lamps or candles and private decks provide spaces for guests to unwind whilst appreciating the scenery.
Sip sundowners around a blazing camp fire on sandy banks and savour delicious meals in the main dining area, the bush sounds and river breezes a soothing accompaniment. Delight in island lunches, or enjoy a wide range of activities including guided walks, fishing, a game drive in the Mosi oa Tunya National Park, sunrise and sunset cruises, a local village excursion and a trip to the Victoria Falls.
After a mouth-watering breakfast, you will have a Private Boat and Road transfer to Kasane in Botswana. After clearing immigration you will depart by light aircraft to Kwando Lebala Airstrip in the northern reaches of Botswana.
Kwando is one of the larger concessions in the country, consisting of 232,000 hectares. It is both remote and wild and its fly-in accessibility and minimal camps ensure exclusivity and seclusion.
As the Kwando River cuts through the land it creates an attractive wilderness of riverine forests, open floodplains and palm islands. Further afield vast stretches of grasslands are grazed by plains animals: zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, impala and tsessebe, as well as waterbuck, lechwe and sitatunga. The massive buffalo and elephant herds pulse with energy, their constant movement kicking up dust, while the more retiring animals dot the landscape, quietly watching the world around them. As always, where there are antelope, predators follow, adding the exciting potential for the interaction of major species. Lion, cheetah and leopard patrol the open plains, or skulk camouflaged in riverine forests. Kwando boasts excellent wild dog sightings, the large tracks of land offering the necessary space for these arresting animals to run free.
In summer (Jan, Feb & March) the scenery comes alive with birdlife, the bright colours and myriad calls providing enthusiastic birders with plenty to keep them occupied.
2 Nights at Kwando Lebala Camp in 1 Luxury Tent
Your stay includes all meals, local brand drinks, 2 safari activities daily and laundry.
Lebala Camp is in the open plains of the Linyanti Marshes in Northern Botswana’s Kwando Concession. Pristine landscape includes vast plains, tree islands, scattered palms and wooded savannahs. Spacious and custom designed, the 8 tents are raised on decks and feature private verandahs and lovely views. All operate on solar power and one tent is ideal for families. Between exciting game drives in open vehicles or (seasonal) walks through the reserve, relax in the comfort of the traditional wood and thatch main camp, or enjoy wholesome meals at the communal table. Cool off in the pool with its beautiful vistas across the plains, keeping watch for the animals which call this reserve home – in particular, elephants and a good concentration of predators.
Depart Kwando Lebala Camp by light aircraft to arrive at Kwara Airstrip.
Welcome to the Okavango Delta…
As old as time, the seasonal flood from the Angola Highlands is the heartbeat of Botswana. Seeping along the panhandle and into the largest inland delta system in the world, the water creates a uniquely beautiful National Heritage Site, the incoming tide of life bringing with it birth, transformation and replenishment. These ancient, cyclical changes provide an exceptional safari experience and the area supports vast herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as numerous antelope, giraffe, zebra and the ever present predators.
Depending on nature’s temperamental dictates, the flood levels vary each year, never under the control of man. This makes it difficult to assess what will happen in the upcoming season: the Delta may swell up to 3 times its size. Under natural forces, the face of the earth renews itself, the landscape of channels, grasslands, reed islands and lagoons burst with life and vitality. As the levels recede in October, the earth starts to dry altering the scenery and game viewing. The summer months bring life from a new angle, and the November/December rains come, announcing the green season, and a land lush and verdant. Whether flood or rain, water, the very essence of life, plays a vital role in the Okavango Delta.
4 Nights at Kwara in 1 Tent
Your stay includes all meals, local brand drinks, 2 safari activities daily and laundry.
Kwara Camp overlooks a secluded lagoon in the northern Okavango Delta, its unobtrusive structure blending into the surrounding beauty of this exclusive concession. Nestled under towering trees Kwara’s location is convenient to expansive dry grasslands as well as permanent waterways, and this translates as year round water and land activities. Intimate and unassuming, the camp offers a back-to-basics bush comfort, romantic in its simplicity. 9 canvas and wood tents (including one honeymoon tent) are built on raised platforms, and enjoy superb views over the lagoon. Enjoy day and night game drives through the reserve, and boating and mokoro trips in search of the Delta’s wild inhabitants. At the end of a busy day, socialise around a camp fire, the sounds of the bush an accompaniment to shared experiences.
Sindabezi Island is an idyllic, exclusive camp on a privately owned isle in the middle of the Zambezi River and is ...
Sindabezi is a top eco lodge and has only five open-sided thatched cottages on wooden decks, allowing guests to soak up the sights and sounds of the African bush in the perfect, pristine setting. Sindabezi has zero grid dependence, so rooms are romantically lit with hurricane lamps, candles and starlight. Despite its remote island setting, the chalets are luxuriously comfortable with king size beds, white cotton linen, mosquito nets, plush carpets, en-suite bathrooms with vanity table, free-standing bath and shower, and a private deck from which to soak up the birds and wildlife. The cottages have solar heated showers, and distinctive ‘loos with a view’ set along private wooden walkways. The main camp is set on the sand, with comfortable seating, reading and dining areas and a raised deck in the trees for catching the afternoon breeze. At night a trail of hurricane lamps lights your way back to the chalet across the soft sand.
Sindabezi is located some 17 kms upstream from Victoria Falls. Access to the Falls is from the Zambian Side at Livingstone, a journey of about one hour. There are views across the flood plains of the Zambezi and into the nearby National Park where game such as elephant, impala and wildebeest come to quench their thirst on the banks of the river.
Activities include river cruises, guided walks and fishing trips.

Lebala in Setswana means “open plains” which aptly describes the extensive grasslands and seasonal floodplains of the Linyanti marshes. This well established camp has an excellent reputation as being a great place for a safari.
Lebala has a reputation for predator action with lions known to hunt and kill mega fauna like buffalo and hippos. A serious safari goer’s paradise.
The camp itself has a happy and friendly atmosphere. The large communal dining area has open sides and a thatched room and leads out to the fire-pit where stories are swapped around the camp fire after dinner. It is also here that early morning breakfast and coffee are served.
The rooms are large and open, with mesh windows offering unobstructed views of the outside. The ensuite facilities feature a free-standing bathtub, double sinks and double outdoor showers.
The private veranda with views out over the surrounding seasonal floodplains is the perfect place to spend some free time during the day when not out pursuing that perfect photo opportunity.
