Welcome to South Africa!
Upon arrival into Johannesburg, you will receive a VIP Meet & Greet and be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board and assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs.
Should your arrival aircraft be directed to the apron and not the terminal, you will be transported to the terminal by bus. As you step off the bus, your Meet and Greet will be waiting for you with the paging board. You will then be shown to your onward flight to Hoedspruit departing 1015 hrs and arriving at 1115 hrs. You will be met for a road transfer to nThambo Tree Camp in the Klaserie Reserve (approx 90 minutes).
Welcome to the Greater Kruger National Park…
With over 2 million hectares of pristine wilderness, the Kruger’s biodiversity sustains numerous species of game and birds. The dry north consists of Baobab trees, scrubland and rocky outcroppings which can be seen for miles and animals tend to gather around water sources. As you come south, the park gets busier, animal numbers increase and the backdrop changes to grassland and acacia woodlands.
On the western borders, private reserves such as Sabi Sands and the Timbavati open onto the Kruger, offering an exclusive game experience with the flexibility of night drives and off-road 4 x 4 safaris. Swaying to the movement of an open vehicle while wrapped warmly against the night chills, is an unforgettable experience. The call of a Nightjar darting overhead and the flash of eyes reflected from the bushes brings an entirely different twist to your safari and as you drop your head back and look up – the crisp night skies go on forever.
Your home for the next 4 nights is nThambo Tree Camp staying in a Chalet on a fully inclusive basis that includes all meals, teas, coffee, local brand drinks (soft & alcoholic), scheduled game walks and drives.
nThambo Tree Camp is an authentic bush camp located in the Klaserie Reserve, bordering the Greater Kruger National Park. With an emphasis on safari rather than luxury, nThambo provides an intimate, game-centred experience, allowing guest focus to remain on the natural beauty of the area, without unnecessary distraction. 5 treehouse-style, elevated suites are constructed of wood, canvas and thatch, and each has its own verandah overlooking the plains. Solar lighting is used, rather than electricity. Quaintly rustic, the main expanses are open-plan, under thatch and feature lovely spaces in which to unwind. Wholesome meals are served in a social dining area, or in the boma around a blazing fire.
Depart nThambo to start your road transfer taking in the scenic Panorama Route that includes God’s Window, Lisbon Falls and Blyde River Canyon.
Blyde River Canyon Reserve is situated against the Greater Drakensberg escarpment and includes natural wonders such as the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, Pinnacle Rock and God’s Window. Combining the visual splendour of the Panorama Route with exceptional game viewing in the Kruger National Park or its private game reserves creates a spectacular itinerary in Mpumalanga.
Door to door this is a 3 hour drive, however, you will have time for stops, although the aim will be to arrive by 1530 hrs at Umkumbe Safari Lodge in time for afternoon tea and the afternoon game viewing activity.
Your home for the next 3 nights is Umkumbe Safari Lodge, in Sabi Sand Game Reserve staying in a Standard Room including all meals, game activities, teas and coffees.
Located on the banks of the seasonal Sand River, in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Umkumbe Safari Lodge is well positioned for superb game viewing. With a variety of room configurations, chalets have river or plains views and verandahs for appreciating the pristine bush.
Between exciting big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo) game drives, perhaps cool off in the pool or relax on the deck keeping an eye out for the game which wander freely through this unfenced area. Bush walks may be enjoyed straight after breakfast, and a gym is available for energetic guests.
Depart Umkumbe Safari Lodge with a Private road transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (approx 2 hours) to connect with your flight to Livingstone, Zambia.
Your flight to Livingstone departs at 1135 hrs arriving at 1310 hrs where you will clear immigration and customs. You will be met for a short scheduled road transfer to Avani Victoria Falls Resort.
You will spend 4 nights in an Avani Standard Room including breakfast and Buffet Dinner and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park entrance fee. We also include your return scheduled airport road transfers.
