Mashatu Lodge is located within the 25,000 hectare Mashatu private Game Reserve, in Botswana’s northern Tuli Game Reserve. Striking landscape is punctuated by towering sandstone cliffs, basalt formations, unusually shaped kopjes and baobabs.

Fourteen spacious suites are privately scattered along the camp’s perimeter, and tastefully decorated to suit the natural surrounds. Kids of all ages are welcome (quad and triple sharing room options are available), and Mashatu is ideal for multi-generational families. Excellent staff (6 were trained at Walt Disney) ensure there is an adventure component to compliment the traditional vehicle safari – cycling, walking and a short cultural excursion.

In addition, the camp has an educational “discovery room” with interesting relics and animal specimens. Between excursions, perhaps cool off in the pool or unwind in the elevated lounge, with its views over an active waterhole. Boma dinners under starry skies and sundowners overlooking glorious landscape add to the traditional safari experience at Mashatu.

Safari Experience

Morning, afternoon and well into evening game drives are always exciting at Mashatu.

Limpopo Horse Safaris operates as a concessionaire on Mashatu Game Reserve. The area is perfect for riding; good going with natural ditches and logs to jump gives an exhilarating ride. Regular game sightings not only of the elephants and cats but also of antelopes, wild dogs, jackals, bat eared foxes, giraffe and the occasional canter with zebras and wildebeest across the plains leaves you with unforgettable holiday memories.

Half day or 3 or 4 day walking safaris are a wonderful way to learn more about the African bush.

Wildlife & Birdlife

Mashatu is home to over 1000 elephants in a 25000 hectare reserve as well as lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyenae and African wild cats.
