An authentic pioneering ambiance gives this intimate, explorer-style camp the air of a bygone era and the decor elements embrace an African version of Robinson Crusoe.
A maximum of 6 guests are accommodated in 3 expansive tented villas, with their own unique design and colour palette. Each are covered under thatch and have spacious en-suite bathrooms, large verandahs and private swimming pools.
Game experiences include open vehicle game drives, guided bush walks and boat-based activities (depending on water levels). Selinda (linked to the Okavango Delta and the Linyanti, via the spillway) is a haven supporting elephant, buffalo, lion and wild dog, as well as sable and roan antelope, in addition to numerous other animal species and birds. In-room massage treatments are available.
Open all year round
Selinda Camp offers game drives throughout the day focusing primarily on early morning and afternoon /early evening game drives but full day drives are common if guests prefer.
The camp has four custom built Land cruisers specially designed for our conditions and photography (fold-down screens, raised roofs, photographic bars, multi-plug invertors).
With just four to six guests each, the Cruisers are fully stocked with drinks and snacks.
Selinda is primarily a land-based camp; however, boating is possible on the Spillway in one of the camp’s two powerboats usually year-round; and toss the bait with some rod/reel fishing from March to December each year.
If stretching one’s legs and getting a feel for Africa by foot is the guest’s preference, then it’s possible to arrange morning walks.
In the mid-day, during siesta, guests can take refuge at one of our hides overlooking the Spillway or waterhole and do some birding.
Sleep outs under a mosquito net on a raised platform in the African wild are available for those who want an extra adventure. This must be booked in advance and is subject to extra cost and availability.
A patchwork of microhabitats, Selinda Reserve hosts a staggering diversity of wildlife.
The open plains are an ideal habitat for cheetah and the thicker woodlands are refuge for leopard.
It is famous for elephant and lion, wild dog and hippo, buffalo and giraffe and the more rarely seen roan and sable.
At the peak of the dry season, this concession boasts elephants by the thousands and regular sightings of the Selinda pack of African wild dogs.
