Mashatu Lodge in Mashatu Game Reserve, Tuli Block – Botswana

Two Dedicated photographic hides Matebole Elephant and Elephant Valley Hide will get you within touching distance of wild elephants. At Matebole, the hide is actually sunk into the ground, so the viewers’ heads are at ground level to get those great shots!
A professional wildlife photographer will accompany participants to the hides.  The photographer is also on hand to tutor both novice and experienced photographers in camera techniques. Plus a custom designed photographic vehicle with all the gadgets and the ability to rent a lens is a bonus.

Top Tip:   Mashatu in the Tuli Block region is a year round destination, with great leopard and the largest elephant population on private land on the African continent!

Mashatu Hide and Mashatu Tented Camp

Kaingo & Mwamba Camps – South Luangwa, Zambia

Together these two camps have built a network of innovative photographic hides, strategically positioned to get the most amazing images.  Hippo, elephant and carmine bee-eater hides do what they say on the tin to get stunning shots of these animals. There’s also a mobile hide to capture those specialities that may occur during the year. National Geographic, BBC and Discovery channel have used these hides for photographic shoots and the making of wildlife documentaries.  In addition, photographers are pampered with specialist bean bags, dust covers and charging facilities.

Top Tip:  Famed for its walking safaris, great predators and knowledgeable guiding, the South Luangwa is an uber destination to get those close up photographic encounters!

Kaingo Camp

Letaka Safaris – Botswana

Letaka Safaris run luxury mobile safaris in Botswana’s prime wildlife areas including the Okavango Delta.
Letaka run scheduled (so called Shutter Safaris travelling with like minded people) or tailor made photographic packages can be arranged to travel with some of the best guides in Botswana.  To take it to the next level, you can choose a photographic workshop that includes a pro-photographer and caters for the needs of both novice and experienced levels of proficiency.  As well as photographing the big game, the guides will also focus on the endless possibilities of macro photography, plus plenty of opportunities to practice landscape shots during the expedition.

Top Tip:  A photographic safari is fab for solo travellers, often with no single supplements and offers the ability to travel with like minded people.

Duba Plains & Selinda Camp – Botswana

Two magnificent camps set in earth shaking big game country where between them you can expect to experience magnificent lion and buffalo encounters, superb elephant populations, as well as pack of wild dogs.
At Duba Plains in the Okavango Delta, your tent comes complete with Swarovski binoculars plus Canon 5D camera equipment. Not least there is a 4 seater photographic boat with 360 degree swivel chairs and camera mounts.
Selinda Camp holds a tailor made workshop programme primarily aimed at the green season when better light and air conditions make for the most impressive photo opportunities. Whether you have a top of the range DSLR or an iphone this programme is aimed at all abilities.  Swarovski binoculars in each room for guest use. Beverly Joubert’s art gallery is converted to a Wild Studio editing and reviewing space. A wooden, thatched hide/sleepout space overlooking the Selinda Spillway.

Selinda Camp

Top Tip:  If you like stylish camps with great guiding, then these two should be on your bucket list.

Jaci’s Safari Lodge – Madikwe in North West South Africa

Jaci’s Safari Lodge provides a super photographic safari experience in this amazing Big 5 malaria free reserve.  Camp provides state of the art camera equipment on twice daily photographic safaris accompanied by a dedicated driver/guide and a photographic host on hand to hone your skills.  Vehicles are equipped with Gimpro camera mounts to get those great professional quality images.
You can even interact with the game 24 hours a day by using the camp’s submerged aquatic Terrapin Hide, again using camera mounts to get the perfect shot.

Jaci’s Safari Lodge

Top Tip:  Madikwe Game Reserve is malaria free, so an ideal family destination and easily accessed from Johannesburg.
